Basel!

O.K guys and gals, I have finally lost all sense of time. We have now arrived in Basel about 1 hr ago and the time here is now 2:20pm. Our flight was delayed by an hour because as we were reversing out, the ground crew detected a bald tyre which required replacement before we were allowed to fly out. For this reason we sat on Tarmac and was served our inflight refreshments of a ham, cheese and tomato dinner roll. In all the flight only took 1 hour and 15 mins.....but given that our flight eventually departed London @ 9:45am, and we rose this morning @ 4:30am- we are now feeling a tad weary. We caught a cab from Basel airport to the hotel and our driver was a really lovely gentleman who only spke German or French. This means that the challenging part of our journey begins, as one tries to speak sensible and in someway correct French on the spur of the moment in response to their rapid fire conversation!!!!!! weathEr here is a fine 24 degrees currently, and the next couple of days are expected to be the same, although afternoon showers are a real possibility also I believe. Have changed shoes for thongs, as the old feet are a tad swollen from the flight, and now we begin to explore Basel....a new country, new language with minimal English so far, driving on the wrong side of the road for the first time in our lives, and who the he'll knows what else is ahead of us!!!!! More news as it comes to hand. Xxxxxxx Norah and Grumps xxxxx
